Congratulations on your sale.

Tommy Midyette replied:

Thank you, Julie. Many artists in my city have done this subject bc it is the first or second Krispy Kreme ever built. I did this years ago in oil

Thanks man. I grew up in Raleigh and spent a couple years painting some of my favorite landmarks. I soon discovered that trying to sell realistic paintings in galleries isn't a moneymaker bc i cant earn enuf to cover all those working hrs. If i do anymore gallery art, it will be quicker. Mainly, im a portrait painter. The original painting sold. And ive sold some prints of this as well as a pillowcase w this image on it.

Fantastic painting! I love it! I did a double take at first because it looks so much like the old one in Spartanburg, SC right down to being on the corner at an intersection! Fabulous work!

Artist's Description

This is one of the first Krispy Kremes in the country. It is on Peace Street in Raleigh, NC. I just wanted to make a strong composition with pretty colors. And I love their donuts, but seldom eat them.

I also was involved in other creative outlets such as: making silent movies and singing/playing guitar in a band. Luckily, I grew up in a neighborhood with other males who weren’t just creative, but also athletic. I really enjoyed playing football with my friends and being...
